The frequent changes in the ELT curriculum revolve around the many issues regarding English language textbooks in Malaysia. The current 'Super Minds' and ‘Get Smart’ textbook was chosen from a plethora of international textbooks from European countries created based on the CEFR curricula. Albeit many pros and cons regarding textbook selections for the current textbooks, not much substantial research has been conducted on the effectiveness of these textbooks. This systematic literature review aims to identify teachers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of CEFR textbooks. This systematic review focuses on the criteria in the CEFR textbooks based on the teachers’ perceptions. It is hoped that this systematic review is able to provide an insight to maximise the effective features of a textbook in the selection of future textbooks.
