Abstract

Online film streaming services have become an integral part of entertainment consumption today, offering convenience and a vast array of content. Among these platforms, Netflix has gained significant attention and popularity in Malaysia, attracting a diverse range of viewers. This qualitative study aims to explore the perceptions, experiences, and challenges associated with Netflix usage in the Malaysian context. Informants were selected through purposive sampling, involving in-depth interviews with 10 individuals, including adults and parents who actively use Netflix. The findings provide insights into the varying perceptions of Netflix’s impact, accessibility, and content availability, along with challenges related to cost, parental concerns, and user experience. This study contributes to the expanding body of research on Netflix’s role in Malaysia’s digital entertainment landscape.
